San Juan Island Pictures

The second week of July my sister Bev and her husband Ron came to visit and we took the ferry to the San Juan Islands. The ferry ride was just as beautiful as the islands.

.

Bev and Ron look as if they are on a cruise ship. I had loaned Beverley my fleece shawl coat which kept her toasty warm except for the wind gusts which kept blowing the coat open!

Knock, Knock, Surprise!

Last week I was fretting over medical news that was not too wonderful. The doorbell rang and it was the sister that Frank home teaches. She works at a flower shop and had a lovely arrangement which I thought she had made for me. It was for me alright but it was not from her. When she found out it was being delivered to me she put some extra special flowers in addition to what was ordered.
When I excitedly opened the enclosed card it was from Michelle and Dave and it made my day and my week and my month. It was so caring that they took the time to think of me. THANKS YOU TWO and I love you too!
Til later.

Lunch with my Grandson

Last week before school started I went to
Eric and Heathers'. The only one that was home was Terrin, my 9 year old grandson. The visiting teacher had taken Colin, Owen and Addie to her house for the day and Heather was asleep. I watched Terrin play video games for awhile and then asked him if he would go with me to Rite Aid because I needed to pick up a few things. He was excited to go somewhere so off we went. It is so nice to have grandkids one on one. You talk about the most inane and interesting things. When we left the store we went to Pennys and just window shopped. The Pennys in Snohomish has been there 30 years and I had never been there. Now I know why. The store is extremely, smmmmaaaaalll. Then I asked him if he had eaten lunch so I took him to lunch. He felt pretty darn special and enjoyed bragging rights of the smoothie he carried home to finish!

Thelin Family Reunion

July 31st we left for Island Park, Idaho. We stayed the night with friends in
Spokane overnight and left early Friday morning. We arrived in time for taco salad dinner which was so delicious after eating snack food all day in the car.
We were also greeted by hoards of mosquitos so we sprayed ourselves down with spray which kept most of the nasty insects away. We each got our token couple of bites just to remind us how we hate mosquito bites!

The campground was a tent city with tents equipped with all the amenities, king size beds, electricity, rugs on the floor, nite stands and reading material. Out houses still were the only choice of bathroom, but there were hot showers this year.

However, Frank is not a tenter/camper so we rented a cabin at Ponds Lodge. It was a brand new hardly finished cabin duplex. The blinds were not even on the windows yet kand one bathroom did not have electricity. With my back problems we did need a good soft bed.

Real Reason for My Back Pain

Long story short, my back pain was from a hairline fracture of the L5 vertebre in my lower back. A visit to my doctor who sent me for a Cat Scan, showed the fracture. It was caused by that dirty word "osteoporosis." The doctor asked me if I remembered injuring it. I thought it was the working hard in the yard, but after the fact I've discovered how it probably happened.
When Heather had a procedure done at the doctor, I watched her kids that day. I jumped on the trampoline with the kids. At the time I felt some pain so I quit jumping. I believe the fracture occurred with crazy grandma thinking she was 10 yrs old and not 57! Just a warning for all of you when you become grandmas. NO TRAMPOLINE JUMPING!

Visit to the Chiropractor

Once in awhile we do something stupid that requires a visit to the chiropractor. Frank and I worked out in the yard July 4 for 4-5 hours. I was doing really strenuous work hoeing up the old topsoil surrounding my raised beds. I guess my lower back didn't like me very much because I have been on Tylenol since last Friday and today, Tuesday I could hardly stand up without a lot of pain. So amazingly I called the chiropractor and saw him at 2 pm. I came home, followed his directions and iced it and fell asleep.
Frank is gone for two days to a Support Enforcement Conference in Tacoma. This is something that he does every year at this time for CLE (continuing legal credits)
So I am trying to take it easy and see the chiropractor again on Friday before working at the temple.
Till next time.
